Twitter Cards (1)

by Arthur

Yesterday I worked with Laurent Sciamma, a freelance artistic director, in La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris on the project The Power Of Twitter. This place is amazing by the way! You can come and work in those weird boxes (see below), you have a great library with mostly art related books, you can even use computers and play video games for free. The space also has huge rooms for concerts and the whole thing is done in a pretty great style!

Back to the project, you need to know that Laurent has a passion for finding other ways to translate ideas visually. He always wants to see things differently, which is awesome! I told him about the project and very quickly he suggested a story: “imagine someone walking and speaking, and behind him a bunch of people following him and listening to what he is saying”. This is you tweeting to your followers!

He basically suggested that we turn the mechanics of Twitter in the most basic way. Awesome idea! We then thought we could make a video or take pictures with real people to illustrate that kind of scenario. We finally thought that, to start with, we could make some kind of cards illustrating the different scenarios happening in Twitter. Here are some visuals representing what those cards could be.

The first one represents someone tweeting to his followers, the second one the same person listening to the people he follows, then retweeting something he heard, and finally this guy is tweeting with an URL in his tweet!

So we will probably make those cards with labels on the bottom to represent the basics of Twitter and see how people react. This could probably generate great insight for the system visualization!

As usual don’t hesitate to give me feedbacks, comments or ideas using our great friend Twitter!
